Articulate Challenge #101 – Atsumi: A Look Back at E-Learning’s Most Iconic Character

Challenge # 101 is a short demo featuring Atsumi, the iconic Articulate photographic character, in the role of a spokeswoman for a somewhat questionable healthcare plan. My submission is an employee benefits packet, explaining the virtues of the fictional healthcare conglomerate called “UNITED Healthcare Horizons.”

I’ve always loved Atsumi’s borderline-crazy exuberant expressions, but seldom get to use them in modules for my actual clients. The first image of Atsumi I used for the “I’m Covered!” page in this demo is one that has never made it into one of my real modules, so I loved getting a chance to use it now!

I created this e-learning “booklet” presentation in PowerPoint, using the page-turn transition between slides. I exported the PowerPoint as an mp4 video, then imported the video into Camtasia, then published it and imported the result into Storyline 2. I’ve found that adding the Camtasia step results in a better quality video, for some reason.

The online booklet or pamphlet concept has become popular lately with several of my clients. I just finished making quite a few for several different jobs in the last couple of months. Since Storyline does not have a page-turn slide transition, I developed this way of delivering the effect for my clients.

Authoring Tools: PowerPoint, Camtasia, & Storyline 2.
